The Summit Ranger District will be hosting a public information meeting about the Experimental Forest prescribed burn. The meeting will take place from 6 p.m. – 8 p.m. on April 3, 2013 at the Pinecrest Community Center (see attachment). The purpose of this public meeting is to inform surrounding communities and interested public of the Experimental Forest Variable Density Thinning Study (VDTS) prescribed burn. Topics to be covered will include the importance of communities and prescribed burning to the Stanislaus National Forest, history of the Stanislaus – Tuolumne Experimental Forest, the Variable Density Thinning Study (VDTS) on the Experimental Forest, location of burn units and burn objectives, and the impact of smoke to the surrounding area.
